When I first met Ally and Pierce and they told me what they wanted their wedding day to look and feel like, I knew their wedding would be one to remember. When I arrived at their venue, Fraser River Lodge in Agassiz, British Columbia, it was hard not to be completely in awe of the view. The ceremony and reception area guarded by Mount Cheam and the sweeping views of the Fraser River made me feel like I had been transported to a hidden corner of the Alps. The breathtaking backdrop made the wedding photographer in me pinch myself more than once.
The excitement in the air was evident, right from the time I visited Ally getting ready in the Wedding Suite everyone was on cloud 9 and so excited for the festivities to begin. Pierce reflected her feelings. I could tell, amidst all the laughter with their wedding parties, neither could wait to get their first look at the other on this big day.
When they finally did, the world seemed to pause. They shared a quiet moment, hugging each other tightly and soaking in everything they had dreamed of together.
The happy couple wanted their special day to involve their nearest and dearest – family, friends, and togetherness was the motif of the day. The day was a beautiful blend of tears, joy, and laughter. Surrounded by their friends and family, as each face beamed with pride and love, Ally and Pierce said their vows. The most heartwarming moment was when Pierce spoke about their beloved dog and how excited he was to add another member to their little family and what a wonderful mother Ally will be. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house—including mine behind the camera.
The celebration was a reflection of Ally and Pierce as a couple – carefree, inviting, and warm. Ally and Pierce’s interactions with their guests resulted in a series of unguarded moments that reflected the happiness alive in the air. The lively bridal party brought out their white parasols to commemorate the sunny happy day, resulting in a series of pictures that you have fun just looking at!
As an editorial and documentary-style wedding photographer, capturing these honest, emotional moments while crafting timeless portraits is what I live for, and their day was a dream.
